Material senses damage, fixes it

Postby coldharvest » Wed Dec 08, 2010 8:34 am

Arizona State researchers have created a material that may be able to not just sense bone damage but also heal it,
the Journal of Applied Physics reported. T
he material uses "shape-memory" polymers with embedded fiber optics.
Researchers say it mimics the way living material such as bone senses damage and regenerates itself.
Although self-healing materials are not new, scientists say the material can recover an unprecedented 96% of the bone's original strength.
I know the law. And I have spent my entire life in its flagrant disregard.
