Heard good things about the film. The series seems to be tops of the bestseller lists and leading this whole wave of Swedish crime novels in translation so might be worth it.

Ridiculous that the studios are remaking a movie that was only released this year to make it more 'palatable' for Americans. From what I read, it has enough violence to sate our usual appetites but I guess we jes haz trouble reedin'. Hate this industry sometimes.

Yes, all three. They're good, very fast paced and gripping. Not brilliantly written (or translated, I suppose), but as thrillers, top-notch. The third isn't quite as good as the first 2.

so. finally brought this book home. got to page three--the family history for those who don't care--and went 'fup it'.

my 12 yo came along. 'mom, can i read this?'
'go for it'.

later that evening: she made it to page 5 and ditched it.

lol. i am in the process of getting up a blog and book reading thiney going for work.
and i am thoroughly starting to dislike fiction.

boy. am i in trouble. :)

Just spent some time browsing through and adding titles from this on my Amazon wishlist. Maybe something will catch your eye as well:

Haven't actually read any but added quite a few of the Patrick Leigh Fermor, JG Farrell, and Georges Simenon. I'm sure other readers on the board could advise some as well.

Currently reading The Last Days of Old Beijing, Dirty Snow (on the list), and City of Djinns. All three are quite good so far.

One of the benefits of not being very intelligent is that I'm easy to please when it comes to fiction (both novels and film). Anyway, I just put it in my Netflix instant queue.

Orginal title is better on the 1st book, "men whom hates women", very catchy. 2nd book, "the girl whom played with fire" and 3rd book "aircastle who blow up" (english title is better "girl whom kicked the hornest nest").
Theres a Hollywood version coming up of the film, with Daniel "JB" Craig as the leading male actor.
No, havent seen the films nor read the books.

the movie was very good but the chick was a skank. not even with a double thick rubber.
