Dan Connolly nearly became the patron saint of Big Guys everywhere in America.

LOL.

So Connolly was carrying the football rugby-style. Hmmmm. Innovative.

That's pretty badass. The most memorable NFL run for me was Super Bowl XVII, when Riggins ran 42 yards for a TD.

That Habana guy is a bad ass.

Not sayin' Habana ain't pretty fuckin' good - but could he do that with all the equipment that an American football runningback wears? Wonder what his 40 yard time would be? The difference is that rugby is a contact sport and American football is an impact sport. Hell, you get flagged in rugby for the hits and tackles that are standard in American football.

For what it's worth I've played both...not at a high level but I was brought out to train and practice with the top team in Manitoba by a friend who played professional in France for a year. I did well but was too scared of getting fucked up for my job so I decided not to play.
Played offensive line with regards to American football. I would have to say that despite my limited rugby experience that American football is crazier.....but rugby players themselves are crazier.

So it's a tie. The American game is more nuts but rugby players are nuttier than American footballers. I hope that settles it.

It settles it most eloquently.
