when they ask how you feeling
you tell em you feeling like something important died screaming
you tell em you feeling like something even more important arrived breathing

Nice quote. LA Confidential. A very respectable attempt at converting book to film and as I suggested in the other thread about westerns, Guy Pierce seems quite astute in the films he picks to appear in,Ive never see him in a film I didn't enjoy. But then I always enjoy reading James Ellroy books and the Smith trilogy, which includes LA confidential, is the best.

Sorry for going off at a tangent onto books but if it is the first words of a book that catch you then I think the opening paragraph is as good as any you will find in any of the classics -

An abandoned auto court in the San Berdoo foothills; Buzz Meeks checked in with ninety-four thousand dollars, eighteen pounds of high-grade heroin, a 10-gauge pump, a .38 special, a .45 automatic and a switchblade he'd bought off a pachuco at the border—right before he spotted the car parked across the line: Mickey Cohen goons in an LAPD unmarked, Tijuana cops standing by to bootjack a piece of his goodies, dump his body in the San Ysidro River.
"If you sit still the birds shit on you, even Buddha, life's short so get out there and do something"
"My life has no purpose, no direction, no aim, no meaning, and yet I’m happy. I can’t figure it out. What am I doing right?" Snoopy

Things to Do in Denver When Your Dead

Just watched it today for the first time in, I don't know, ten years.

My favorite film noir is without question: Blast of Silence....unequally in its raw miserable honesty ;p

Check out this short music video based on the film:

I watched 'The Driver' again last night for the first time in ages. Noir to the bone and such a cool, laconic, bare bones movie.

Straight back into my top ten movie list

Definitely Terminator. Arnie plays a great bad guy. It all went to hell in the sequels.
I'm not really a proper reporter, due to the chronic lack of discipline, negligible attention span, and a certain juvenile difficulty taking serious things seriously.
