But when Sid killed Nancy people were all like: Cable? That's for rich people.

A friend of mine's family had cable when I was a kid in the 1970's. We normally had two chanels and sometimes three if the weather was good. Cable gave them 8 chanels, all from Wisconsin except for WGN from Chicago. So we pretty much only heard people who talked like we did. "East Coast" accents were the stuff of Woody Allen and gangster movies and we did not think anyone really spoke like that.
And from thence they went to Beer....(Num 21:16)

That was all before my time Kurt. You see nowadays poor people have 300 channels and rich people opt for the digital bunny ears, at least in my neck of the woods. I'm somewhere in between.

It's Friday evening again pop pickers. Here's what's been spinning on my disks all week, the incomparable Mister David Jones. I'm doing a countdown of my favourite songs from the greatest solo artist of them all.

To start you off at number ten, from the first album of his 'Berlin Triptych', the epitome of Euro-trash cool...

Who needs words when you're kicking out jams this good?

The first record I ever bought this one, second was Ghost Town by The Specials, I was such a tasteful little cunt back then

(This video was filmed in Hastings & Beachy Head)

Lots from 'Low', but it is his best album (but his greatest song isn't on it). The spaceman from the early days, and the regular guy in a suit from the 80s onwards had nothing on his cocaine/thin white duke & Berlin/Eno days - 1975-79

A classic track from The Man Who Sold The World, in at number 5 on the all-time Bowie list. I like this homemade vid too, usually these are cack on youtube.

Sweet, from Hunky Dory, his best early collection by far
