Sad and shocking

Postby flipflop » Sun Nov 27, 2011 2:36 pm

How a bloke - was top of his game, wealthy, good-looking, dream job, with a young family and Christmas around the corner - can feel so bad he does a thing like this.?

I'm completely shocked, in a football world populated with overpaid dickheads, Gary Speed stood out as a genuine a nice guy. RIP.

Yep, that is a damn shame. Two of my friends killed themselves in 2008 and I am still staggered by it.

Seen the aftermath of at least 50 suicides. The last one a mother hung herself in front of her three kids...aged 3,4,5. My job was to harness the kids and bring them upstairs away from the scene and keep them there. The 5 year-old eventually started crying...because she was the most aware.

Walked in on someone I loved who attempted suicide but failed. Shortly after my best friend on the job died in a fire another firefighter I was fairly close to killed himself.

Sucks. Depression -- the silent killer.

Christ, I've gone from never having heard of him to being sick of the sight of him. That'll be another 20 attention seeking teen suicides in Wales then. Suicides were shunned and excoriated for a good reason; like many good reasons it has been long forgotten in the heart on sleeve wearing world.

A bit harsh that. I just said I'd never heard of him. But to give you peace of mind I have found out that it is unlikely that you will pay for this as according to the Coroners' Society of England and wales, "Unlike the system of Courts under HM Courts Service there is not one Coroner's jurisdiction. There are many separate and distinct coroners’ jurisdictions in England and Wales. Each jurisdiction is locally funded and resourced by local authorities." It is highly unlikely that the precept to Warrington Coroner's Court will be increased on the basis of this single case. So if costs overrun for the Speed inquest then it is the people of Warrington who will pick up the tab, probably through a saving found elsewhere. As I am not from Warrington I hereby declare any and all of my interest in this case ceased.

Bit of a late tackle by that dog in b&w.

Definitely wasn't offside though.
