Anyone used to blare "Woodpecker from Mars" by Faith No More, while banging out rounds from a Madeuce HB .50 cal in the turret of an Amtrac?
Never actually got to do it in combat. But at the range I used to get a hardon so bad I almost shit my pants. What a rush! It's truly a song to conquer the world with.

Current favorite is some old Pantera CD's being taken for a spin 'round my CD player.

And yesterday bought Damage Plan: New Found Power. Breathing new life is my fav song off the album.
So I'll meet up with that Russian, that Brazillian, the rest of the team from Brooklyn..and we'll start shooting.

It's wearing on my mind,
I'm speaking all my doubts aloud
You rob a dead mans grave,
Then flaunt it like you did create

If I hit bottom and everythings gone
In the great Mississippi, please drown me and run

It's digging time again,
you're nurturing the weakest trend

Those with the heart and the brain to get past this
Can spot a pathetic without even asking

Fuck your magazine,
and fuck the long dead plastic scene
Pierce a new hole,
if Hell was "in" you'd give your soul

THE GREAT SOUTHERN TRENDKILL
That's right,
THE GREAT SOUTHERN TRENDKILL

Buy it at a store,
from MTV to on the floor
You look just like a star,
it's proof you don't know who you are

If I hit bottom and everythings gone
In the great Mississippi, please drown me and run

It's bullshit time again,
you'll save the world within your trend

Those with the heart and the brain to get past this
Can spot a pathetic without even asking

Politically relieved,
you're product sold and well received
The right words spoken gold,
if I was God you'd sell your soul to...

THE GREAT SOUTHERN TRENDKILL
That's right,
THE GREAT SOUTHERN TRENDKILL

god bless Dimebag Darrell, the world is less without him.

Scrape it, grind it, peel it, hide it
The trend is over and gone forever
Shelf it, box it, save it, frame it
You won't need that anymore,
it's on sale at the fucken dollar store

Waste of time,
pantomime,
circus doll,
at the local mall
Exterminate, it's all fake!
Exterminate, it's all fake

Sandblast yourself
Sandblast yourself
Sandblast
Sandblast
It's getting old, old, old
And all my promises are lies, all my love is hate
I am the politician, and I decide your fate

Just went through a spin of some vinyl, and relished my copy of Torture Garden by Naked City (John Zorn) - replete with great artwork too.

also spun my early New Order 7"'s - ie Ceremony, Everythings Gone Green, et al. (Galaxie 500 does some great renditions too)

Sebadoh's first 2 LP's
Superchunk's No Pocky For Kitty
Big Black's 'Atomizer' and 'Songs About Fucking'
and Scratch Acid / Jesus Lizard all
sound way more incredible than I had remembered since I've been listening to them on CD for the last few years rather than vinyl.

The demo'd songs on the Velvet Underground boxed set, like Prominent Men (very Dylan-like), are really great too, incidentally.

Anyone here remember The Cows, Steel Pole Bathtub or Chokebore ?????

Recent favs have been...
The Meters, James Brown, Captain Beefheart, Tribe Called Quest, Gil Scott Herron, Dick Dale, Duane Eddy, John Coltrane, Rolling Stones (specifically Beggers Banquet), Ry Cooder, Allman Bros., Thelonious Monk, Etta James, Tom Waits, Sun Ra, X-ray specs, The Undertones, Link Ray, Sonny Rollins, Henry Rollins, Public Enemy, Johnny Cash, Donald Byrd, The Style Council, Curtis Mayfield, Jeff Beck, Frank Zappa, Patti Smith, Cecil Taylor, The Clash (specifically Sandanista!), The Specials, Peter Tosh, Tower of Power,

BTW-Has anyone heard any recordings by the 5,6,7,8's-they were the Japanese girl band in the film Kill Bill Vol.1-I've tried to find some of their CD's at my local music emporium, but alas...I could not find any... from watching them in the flick they sound like a kickin' band

Very very cools seeker. I was starting to think maybe I was the only other person who loved those records. You're taking me back to a very enjoyable time in my life. Tower theatre: Jon Spencer blues explosion, Superchunk, and Sonic youth touring "Goo".

I sure do. Absolutly loved SPB, had lots of business dealings with Boner records, SPB's original lable. That was also the era of some great record labels. Amphetamine reptile, Subpop, Dutch east indies, etc.

I absolutely love Torture Garden - though I don't own the original or anything. I own the Grand Guignol album, which has Torture Garden as a chaser to a bizarre series of compositions. The main one, Grand Guignol, is easily the best. I believe they owe a lot of that torture garden style to The Ruins, who I actually managed to see live when they came through town the only time they ever came through town(best line was when the singer/guitarist said in broken english: "Here is seventy-three song in three minute!"). Metal bands could learn a lot from Torture Garden.

Recent Listening has included:

My Bloody Valentine
Plaid
Fela Kuti
Soundgarden
Can
Nickelback (can't always have good taste)
Hole
Lucy Show (Obscure 80's Calgary band, you'll never find their stuff around, sorta like Joy division meets REM)
Wire

Lucy Show

They played in Thunderbay a few times when I went to
Lakehead.
At a called restaurant/bar called "Crocks and Rolls".
Have any of you Canadians heard of the band The Deja Voodoos?

Spoken word or music? Yeah he is great. Met him a few times, loved the fact we were the same age and our B-days are only three days apart.

Best,
