MUSIC: What are you favourites?

For those post related to Burt Reynolds and throwing balls.

In a fight, who would win? Henry Rollins or Glenn Danzig?

Crazy Hank. We did a show years ago with Black Flag and a guy hit Henry in the head with a bottle. Henry didn't miss a beat his face covered in blood. Chuck Dukowski hit the offending fan in the head with his bass. Read "Get in the van". Glenn never put up with the grind that was touring with the Flag.

BTW Jello has a release that's a few months old now, of material with the Melvins.

I don't really get into much of the loud, angry shit (unless Mike Patton's involved.)

Listen to lots of stuff. I saw Dylan & Merle Haggard in LA last march. Dylan has fucking lost it. One of the coolest guys to ever walk the planet, but he does not give a shit about how you want to hear the songs. He makes sure they have no semblance to the original recordings and he sings them incoherently.

Saw Wilco in April and June. They always put on a good show. Pics from the OKC show (not mine):

This link should eventually have a pic I took in LA at the Greek (but not my blog):

Other music worth listening to lately:

The Books
LCD Soundsystem
Shout Out Louds (The music from Sweden is starting to get good for a change.)
Caribou
Broken Social Scene
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
Tosca
Charlie Parker
Calexico
Pavement (music seems to get better with age)

For anyone in Texas or nearby, or just needing an excuse to check out Austin, I highly recommend going to the Austin City Limits Festival. I've been twice and I'm not aware of where you can find this kind of good music for three days in one zip code. This year's line up in September is good. Check it out http://www.austincitylimits.com/festival/

I wouldn't piss on Gary Glitter if he was on fire. Mojo Nixon is a staple though. Quality jazz is a sure bet any day of the week, though, and noteworhty from that genre is The Modern Jazz Quartet. Are there any fans of Bluegrass amoungst BFC'ers. I have been thinking, of late, that it would be quite interesting to have a "poll" to find out who plays a musical instrument. The Black Flag Marching Band. Imagine the potential for wild gigs where it doesn't matter if the hosting venue goes up in flames as a result of the crack-pot pyrotechnics team we hire that works for beer.

I've recently dug up some of my old Sodom albums. German death/thrash metal at it's best.

I'm also starting to get into scandanavian death metal. Makes Slayer sound like elevator music.
I am the object of criticism around the world. But I think that since I am being discussed, then I am on the right track.

Crazy Hank.

Oh fuck yes, you know it.
Mr. Rollins would just pound Glenn Danzig's head in.
I wouldn't give you odds on Glenn making it to the hospital,
OK, maybe 2/5 because it's you.

Glen Danzig has had his head punched in a few times. By Sebastian Bach, and by the North Side Kings singer:
