Pretty crunchy. I like that they haven't lost their direction artistically.

Last album had some great tracks. This is one of the best they've ever done, to my ears.

I just bought Alice in Chains's Essentials. It appears to be money well spent. I have their Greatest Hits but just deleted the MP3s. They totally kick ass.

I agree re: AIC. I rank Black Gives Way to Blue second, behind Dirt. Looking forward to the next one. I hope they really unleash the new vocalist.

I've been absolutely obsessed with Tom Waits from the 1970s lately. Something about that era, and him in it....

Also... as I'm comfortably numb sailing along on a skidoo whining at high rpms along the sea ice, the cold stinging through thick clothing, the sun searing through soft clouds, the endless icy horizon of white, I think of... Chelly.

He sounds a bit buried in the mix behind Cantrell. My buddy saw them live on the tour with Mastodon and Deftones and said new vocalist murdered it, really good range.

Always liked Facelift... but there are just so many good jams in the whole catalog.

Meshuggah live; captured with well placed GoPros. This band live when they set the strobes to trigger with the kick drums... seizure inducing lights never sounded so good. The groove on this song at minute 2:30... yes please!

This came out last year. Once you get over the obvious Tool influences, it's an excellent album. Martin Lopez (Opeth) on drums, Steve DiGiorgio (Death, Testament) on bass. The vocalist sounds a lot like Maynard.
