Greed

Is greed good or bad or what even does it mean to you?

I used Wikipedia and found an answer that seems incomplete.

What are your opinions about greed in general?

I think it's a natural emotion. Part of our natural desire to survive and procreate. How much greed are we talking about?
I've been thinking, having spent the whole summer in China and the former Soviet Union, when capitalism is outlawed only outlaws will become capitalists. Or maybe when capitalism is outlawed everyone becomes a crook.

Greed is good. At least it would be, if I could get anyone in Vault City to read my economic data.

Greed comes from Greedy which I find surprising as most derived words come from the root word...not the other way around. So "Y" as the suffix was removed.

Here is a derivation of the word in it's complete sense:

I suppose you can make a better supposition if you started with when the word was initially used...

If evil is corrupted good then greed would be corrupted ambition. One would have to determine the harm caused by the ambition to determine if it was "greed".

i wasnt knockin your usage. i use it the same way. it was just funny to me how many times i've held the same sentiment in my brain regarding a given topic and wikipedia. i should have been more transparent in my expression of humor - it was irony not contempt.

depends if you're on the getting or receiving end. all a matter of perspective, i'd say.

Greed is one of my favourite seven deadly sins. But some of the others are sexier.

I guess some might think of the seven deadly sins as a bucket list.

I think the word "Greed" best describes the state of mind we are in when we have made ourselves a "slave" to a want/desire.
