Kuwait/Iraq border

Postby cjpurcell » Tue Oct 20, 2009 1:20 pm

Going to Kuwait for 4 days in 3 weeks and was wondering if it is possible to cross into Iraq? Have heard conflicting reports - has anyone been there recently and tried. And if it is possible, how dodgy is the south around Umm Qasr? Also, anything worth checking out in Kuwait?
Appreciate any info...

I spent a few months in Kuwait. As far as things to see… death road. Rout Tampa maybe the gulf. Other than that there really isn’t much other then battle damaged buildings and left over destroyed military crap lying around. A lot to look out for like camels and crazy drivers and edgy military convoy escorts other than that enjoy open desert and trash. They have a really nice soccer field and shooting range. As far as the boarder you could but remember just about every inch of that country is watched. I only remember a simple pile of sand being the dividers between where I was and Iraq Saudi Arabia and Iran. Good luck have fun don’t get complaisant of your surroundings.

From 20 yrs ago? You'd think that oil money would help clean up the place a little.

Ya right a recycling plant could make a killing over there. With the amount of money the US and Oil Company’s pump into that place you would think they would clean it up. I got the impression that they really didn’t care all that much.
