If you like red wine, then by all means.

Was drinking a very nice Glenmorangie the other night - the label had somethingorother 'blue' and bits about 'special barrels' on it - ideas anyone?

I went to my area liquor store (run by a guy who goes to Scotland often and the "blue" part baffled him. So you might have had some kind of weird extra rare scotch or a Johnny Walker blue type marketing thing.

SCOTCH

Postby gnaruki » Mon May 07, 2012 7:01 am

So my old mentor is retired now and I want to give this drunken scots-'merican a gift for looking out for me and showing me the ropes.

Suggestions? Besides Johnny Walker....I was thinking a Macallan.

Really depends $100 would be fine. I want to stay under blue label prices because any more would be silly. But a bottle with a lot of scotch history to it would be cool.

Oh FFS. Read the miles-long thread already on this forum. Would be extra nice if a mod merged this one to the existing one.

Awesome. One of the better enabled superpowers.

Is there a such thing as Episcopalian scotch?

JW Blue is only 150 - but if you are willing to switch to cognac as a gift my favorite is martell cordon bleu cognac for around 100 bones - it is delicious and it makes a nice gift
