compact ruggedized binoculars

Postby grawp » Wed Dec 23, 2009 5:29 pm

Hello all,

My nephew will be going off to mountaineering school this coming March, and has asked me to buy him a compact and rugged pair of binoculars.
Since he will be doing a lot of climbing, emphasis on the rugged.
I have considered a pair of Steiner model 288 8x20 Predator Pro's.
I would appreciate your collective input on their suitability for use, as well as other binoculars you'd care to recommend.

Thanks,

I've got a pair of Bushnells. The model number is 25-0823. They're 8x23 and work just fine.
