Bob Schrap for custom leather sheaths

Postby mapandcompass » Wed May 05, 2010 7:25 pm

Got a great blade that rides in a shameful sheath? I used to, but I've recently had success with Bob Schrap of Wauwatosa, WI. Long story short, I recommend him to the forum.

I decided to have a sheath made for a large, unusually shaped blade. After a little poking around I sent my blade off to Bob Schrap, who just returned the package to me (approx. 6 week turnaround). He made this beautiful leather sheath for me for about $80. Keep in mind this costs more than most of his sheaths (usually ~$60) because I am picky and wanted specific features, including Kydex liners, tie-down points, ostrich-leather overlay, and a loop for a firesteel. I have little doubt that this sheath will outlast me.

That Ostrich leather looks great.

If he has a website then be sure to do my fellow Wisconsinite a favor and link to it here. We get good traffic here from google.

Good idea. I entirely forgot about the link. He's got a pretty sweet domain name: http://www.customsheaths.com/

That way the key words are tied to the website.

Has anyone set up a default nofollow for all URLs posted on the site? The link to this guys site are followable and the link juice and keyword anchor text will be applied from the BFC, but it might help cut down on alot of spam posters here if links are by default nofollowed.

Spammers can easily search for blog platform versions that are not updated with this, and it makes the site a target for spam posters wanting to use the BFC to promote their own cheesy sites. Spammers can still post here for our entertainment value but this will deny them the value they are looking for.

The BFC has been around for way to long for that to help – it is surely on a master spam list by now.

Its on a big spam list. When we switched from phpBB2 to phpBB3 there was some confusion with the spambots for a while when we changed directories but that was only a month reprieve.
