Recommend a very Rum

Postby AztecDave » Sun Apr 17, 2011 1:08 pm

When I get outta Nolickerstan, I think my first refreshment is going to be a drink of 2 parts Rum and 1 part pineapple juice. On the rocks. I want a real, real, good rum. Anybody?

I know the law. And I have spent my entire life in its flagrant disregard.

Barbancourt Five Star.

But that is best for drinking straight or maybe with a squeeze of lime. You can go the three star route. If that is not available then get Brugal out of the DR. Its not sold everywhere (in my neighborhood in NYC both are) so if you are hurting to find those then Appleton Rum of Jamaican and Mount Gay of Barbados are worth mixing.

Once you do any of these, then Barcardi will taste like cough syrup and you will be an instant rum elitist.

That is expensive stuff but like they said in the link a good price for the age of it.

Never had it though.

If you are going to drown it with a bunch of sweet shit then just buy Bacardi or Cpt. Morgans

The best:

For mixed drinks, the Gran Reserva, aged 7 years, is usually fine - it's 10x better than any other rum on the general market. But 2:1 maybe the Centenario wouldn't be a waste.

Castillo does fine by me. Its cheap but not poor quality. Rum is by FAR my favorite medium hard liquor. Best with fresh fruit juice and pineapple is a good choice.

There are a lot of rums I haven't tried yet, but Brugal Anejo is my favorite thus far.
