there was some show on PBS or NatGeo awhile ago about super-volcanoes, it'll be one fuck of a party-cracker that's for sure.
I know the law. And I have spent my entire life in its flagrant disregard.

The volcanoes down here in Costa Rica have been extra active the past two weeks - Turrialba (which I just climbed last month, it's sort of off the tourist trail and was inactive except for a few fumeroles in the crater when I was there) just let loose with some ash and steam columns 3km tall, and now there's a couple of new craters and whatnot; they're probably going to close the park next month, right after the Christmas tourist bump (if they close it before then, the whole region loses shitloads of money).

And, Arenal, the major active volcano, has been have seriously intense eruptions, it's been going crazy. Plus Irazu belched some poison gas last week. Hmmmm....

No, that was probably take in 2002, last time she got a little crazy. All my photos of Arenal look like a red stripe in the middle of a black screen.

But Michelle, come on down, don't worry - volcanos only eat virgins.

The Calderas out west are total mofos.

If they would be as active as the pretty Costa Rican or Hawaiian volcanos the earth would be covered in sooty ice and the air would be filled with pumice.
