what is your opus dei conspiracy theory?

I have a good friend I see at daily mass--her son is within the 'organization'.....has been away from home since 16, is now 20 and in formation to be a priest.

a so-so book on the subject. it's biased in their favor.

The older I get, the more I appreciate the sacrifice of my Lord taking up the cross, knowing how, at times, things would be bastardized in His name.

Opus dei----so much good mixed with so much bad.

WHAT?
The Albigensian held themselves to a higher standards than ordinary Catholics and the Pope had them killed for it, subjugating the Languedoc as well.
I'd say that has a little to do with Catholics.

Catholics are gay, in terms of their historical actions. But we wouldn't have such a rich collection of horror flicks if we didn't have catholic demon lore informing the genre over the last 50 years.

And seriously. All these secret societies that eventually got their asses kicked by the state, the man, or powers that were are garbage. Autocratic shit only becomes the wrong way to do something once it's overthrown. These guys like labored impotently for hundreds of years only to get themselves and everyone they know killed in creative and gruesome ways. There is something to be said for efficacy when valuing an insurgency and rebellion. Principles and determination alone don't cut the mustard.

Similar axes fall within Protestantism too. The only reason we think of the Catholic Church as authoritarian is because we see it act on a larger scale. Individual churches can be exactly the same. When I was a kid my family found itself on the sharp end of a church split; on the ten-year anniversary that that happened, I was kicked out of a church for my Semitophilia. Dogmatic people are the same just about everywhere you go.
