Yeah but Sri's from Manitoba so he's not joking around.
When we introduced cut wood (or lumber as we call it) to them 3 years ago the shock caused the deaths of several other wise robust old ladies.
I know the law. And I have spent my entire life in its flagrant disregard.

Rolex Submariner. I have worn one for over thirty years in some really nasty spots. Nobody ever cut my arm off for it. It will take one hell of a beating and work. Plus, it's good for get-out-of-jail money in certain circumstances anywhere in the world.

From 9-6 I have a Movado, and after work I put on a G shock that I found in the woods at Ft. Benning about seven years ago. Can someone please tell me why Movado is such an expensive watch? I got mine from my aunt that is a jeweler, and her price was $1,000. It is nothing special (stainless with a white face), but I did not start wearing it until about two years ago because I was afraid that I would mess it up.

Same thing goes for Rolex. I paid $500.00 for my first Submariner back in 1978. Last one I bought was in '92, and it's still going strong, after some serious abuse. I seem to recall that one was around $2200.00

I heard the other day that they are up to $4500.00 That is just a little insane for a 32 jewel chronometer made of plain jane stainless. I would never spend that on another one, so I hope this one lasts until I'm dead. It is, after all, only a watch.

I always wore one so that I could raise emergency cash in some shithole if I got in too deeply. Now that I'm retired, although I did do a Buffalo hunt in Tanzania in September, I mainly wear it for old time's sake. (No pun intended).

+1 on HoboMan's recommendation - Suunto is the way to go. I've owned Vectors, Observers, and their GPS watch and have been impressed by all. Great customer service and warranty (2 years). You can pick them up on eBay from time to time relatively cheap, or wait until the SHOT Show in Vegas next February where they sell them from their booth at cost.

An honorable mention goes to those plain black & white U.S. Government tritium watches (Watch, Wrist, Navigators, NSN 6645-01-364-4042) we used to buy with Class IX dollars. Great field watches.

I'm still using a Russian military watch of Cold War era. Works well enough, and amuses me every time I check the time. We won, and I stole your watch.

CWC RN diver's watch. Relatively new, so no word on longevity - although it survived a motorbike smash a couple of months ago without a scratch. Tougher than a Nissan Cefiro's wing mirror, certainly.

I have one of those too. I'm wearing it right now, in fact. It's pretty dorky looking but I manage to pull it off.
