Examples for the latter :)? Considering that security is only a delusion in any place but a brick building with steel doors much less a tent that could be carried in a pack...

ultralight gear is cool, but i never understood the ultralight tent concept. if weather is good enough that an ultralight tent can be used, no tent is really needed at all. if it's not, well, you're gonna need a heavier tent.

Ultralights are great if they have the right features (such as screening and a bottom). If not, they are nothing more than a tarp. Tarps work great where there aren't insects and arachnids. Trouble is, those places are limited.
