Good diving computer?

Postby Margelatu » Thu Sep 25, 2008 12:06 am

Hi, guys ! I need to buy myself a good, reliable and stylish diving computer at an affordable price. Any suggestions? The Oceanic Atom 2.0 caught my eye, but the price, $ 799 is a bit too much for me. Have you seen it sold somewhere else much cheaper? By the way, I'm interested in buying it from Internet. Thanx in advance, guys.

Make sure you check that the atom 2.0 that you buy has had the softwear upgrade. There were some re-calls early on in production.

I dive, but can't give you any input on that particular. I have an Aeris and it has not been the greatest, not sure I would recommend one. One thing I would say is that the styish part of your post had me confused. It's a dive computer, they aren't really meant to be stylish.

depends a bit where and how you gonna dive.

wrist computer or integrated ? EAN ? etc.

check out the Suunto Mosquito. excellent thing, affordable and stylish if you will. easy to interprete even if you are totally narc'ed. but sometimes a bit difficult to read when visibility is down.

A watch and dive tables (but you should know them anyway). That way when you're dying and sinking into the inky depths without a care in the world you can at least amuse yourself by drawing cocks and other amusing stuff on your dive tables. Easily the best way to go.

As said above, not sure what you mean by stylish, but I like my Suunto Cobra. Could potentially be hard for some to see, but I've never had any problems.

Or, you could go with one of the new(ish) mask computer things.

I like my Aeris Atmos ai, but haven't tried many others. I kind of like the idea of an air integrated watch that could be used for free diving, but I'm worried I might lose it.
