International Knife Carry Laws

Postby Pastorman » Wed Jan 20, 2010 3:03 am

Not sure if this has been covered already (I couldn't find it on the forum), but I'm trying to research knife carry laws by country....anyone found anything helpful or conclusive in this area? Specifically looking for laws in East Africa and Latin America. To be clear, I'm mainly looking for information on everyday carry knives, flip open or otherwise and not necessarily to be used as a weapon.

I know the law. And I have spent my entire life in its flagrant disregard.

I like the concept of when you arrive, pick up a cheap knife at a local shop. Before you leave give it away or leave it somewhere special.

You could leav it in the back of the head of the douch taxi driver who overcharged you for a trip to the airport.

For your database:
Don't carry any knives on you in Australian cities, you'll get arrested. Even stanley knives will get ya in trouble.
If you're in the outback you'll have no problems as all farmers carry them (unwritten law)

The Australian government just spent millions on Advertisements to discourage purchasing or carrying knives:

Yep – when looking at Australia I thought the gun and knife laws were going to be just like the US – I was way off on that one, its worse than the UK

prior to boarding the flight here to afghanistanland, an air force pogue questioned my Benchmade switchblade, i mean automatic opening knife. never mind that i had an automatic weapon with rounds.

That's a shame. I used to think I might like to expat there someday.

I packed a knife with me in Saudi Arabia [tactical knife clipped in my pocket], but I am not sure if it was legal or not - getting arrested for minor stuff like that in the Middle East will depend on allot of factors [your Nationally, Skin/Hair Color, Wealth, Who you work for, Ect.]
