OK. Place your bets. Who is going to be the first Flagger to buy an IPad?

In general, I am a fan of Apple products and design - but I recently decided to get an e-reader and I chose the small Kindle (because when I travel I load my suitcase and carry-on with books). The new wireless download feature, long battery life, start up cost and small size appealed to me. I think I'd like to see the iPad mature a bit before I adopt it.

And if not, there is probably an application for that too.

Genius and bizarre. The funniest is when, halfway through, "Don't try this at home" appears on the screen.
"If you sit still the birds shit on you, even Buddha, life's short so get out there and do something"
"My life has no purpose, no direction, no aim, no meaning, and yet I’m happy. I can’t figure it out. What am I doing right?" Snoopy

The iPad screen is not good as a reader, so good call. The Kindle's proprietary nature annoys me, so I'd probably go with a Sony if I were to get a reader. Did you get a Kindle?

Yes, I did - so far I like it. The size is perfect, the battery life is good as the screen doesn't gobble energy (but is boringly monochromatic and not "self lighting" so requires an outside light source like a real book). I like the idea having lots of reading material available in a very light portable unit. The whispernet 3G download works great in my location. I think it does what it is dedicated to do satisfactorily. Sure would be nice if I could somehow download my current book collection into like I did my CD music into my iPod. But having your "library" on a portable device sure makes the idea of moving less daunting. It's reputed to hold 1500 books - I have about 1650 in my current collection. With the exception of the 'coffee table" type books that are photo-heavy I'd have no issue with having all my reading material on such a device. Exceedingly useful - although you can't loan your books to friends or take them to the 2nd hand bookstore to get a credit.

I dig the kindle too...the battery life with the wireless off is staggering.

Its so good that I come close to forgetting to charge it because I assume its natural state is not to be charged.

Plus newspapers delivered sure beats buying one in an airport bookshop to read on the plane.

I bought one for a friend who is a computer retard Its...OK...Its clear that Apply dumbed it down so it can't function as a laptop or an phone. But the part that gets me is you can't really hold it and use it at the same time. It needs a handle kinda like this version
