Have you ever slept overnight in a hammock?

Yes; it was great. It cured my hangover/spinal injury/etc and gave me a permanent +1 to Constitution.

Yes. It was awful. I hated it and will never do it again.

Scored a Hennessy Expedition A-Sym for $99 shipped and to my door during last month's REI sale! Hell yeah.

Can't wait for a break in the weather to 'test' it out all day in the sunshine. I guess it would probably be smart to Seam-Seal it while I'm at it.

I have a hammock I bought in Mexico for five dollars. It's held up quite well over the years.

Well I've got about 50+ nights in the Hennessy by now. Here are my thoughts:

1. Wow, this thing is way better sleeping than a tent
2. The "velcro vagina" closure can be kind of a pain
3. The included netting and rainfly are grade-A
4. Don't skimp on insulation padding, or all your heat will be sucked out from underneath you
5. Unless you're a contortionist, don't plan on getting any hanky-panky in one of these things
6. rainfly guylines needed extensions
7. installed cotton 'drip lines' to keep water from running down the tree/post and along the rope into the hammock

Need more practice. Not much better than sex in a hammock.
Shes never interfered with me. I have no complaints about her.
Same here.
Mega ditto.
I met her once and I found her to be a nice lady. Not kookey in any way.
Penta has always been gracious, kind and very sane in all my interactions with her.

I'll take that under advisement. Time to head to the Caribbean?

Hammocks without a permanently-attached rainfly, and designed to hold two people would probably work a lot better. The Hennessy is cocoon-like already if you're 6' / 180 lbs.

"Not much better than sex in a hammock"

no Penta not like those string hammocks that make romance like a fresly smoked ham with all the drippings squishing out the bottom. I think he means a military jungle hammock which barely holds one severely compressed human.

Not much fun then. Bad luck.

Yup. Try it out. You'll probably need an extra-large matrimonial. Don't bother with any fancy tassels and macramé: you'll only get your toes caught and end up ripping it. Definitely not a string one - as RYP says, all squished out. Straightforward soft hand-woven are the most comfortable, if you can get one.

Just had a Mosquito Expedition delivered. A little barebones.
No rain fly (aka, privacy cover), I'll have to look around for one. The lines on the Hennessy are a lot more plug and play. The tree straps from the Hennessy might get dropped in the sack. Actually, Hennessy has a couple of nice kits. I'll have to work on this one. The side entry will be a lot nicer for camping in the ground, though. Also, the slot underneath for a mat will be nice. I always struggle with this with my Hennessy.
Sex in a hammock ... sounds dangerous. Especially since I'm already pushing the weight limits of my hammocks by myself. Prefer a solid surface.
Be nice to me. I'm a rug muncher.

I buy the 200 baht jungle hammocks here and they are great. The one thing I tell people when they come is don't spend $70 on a mosquito net or $200 on a hammock. They never listen and spend the first night trying to set the fucker up and in the they end up buying the local gear and loving it.

Yeah, what's kind of odd is that the Mosquito hammocks are delivered from Thailand. So what does the local gear look like?
EDIT: I think this calls for a demonstration setup video.

Dammit, that's exactly like the Mosquito Expedition I just paid a hundred George Washingtons for! That came from Thailand.
Maybe I should have had you send me one. Can you look at the Expedition and see if it's not identical?

Well if I get over to SEA, and I am gunning for this project - I'm bringing my own exped. hammock and we can compare and contrast then.

I won't know for quite a while if I will win this contract or not - but like I said, I'm gunning for it - so we'll see.
