Saddleback leather briefcases?

Postby HockeyGuy » Sat May 15, 2010 11:43 pm

Anyone on here have one? They are extremely cool looking...just wondering if they are as rugged as they seem?

That is some gorgeous luggage but I don't know how I'd feel about having bags that had more of a right to sit in business class then I do.
I know the law. And I have spent my entire life in its flagrant disregard.

I hear ya. There seems to be a bit of cult following with these bags, but in terms of severe conditions I wonder how they would hold up...
They're seriously manly looking bags though.

Also, while fine looking leather,I would imagine they are adding a fair old amount of unnecessary weight to your travel load

They look good.

I agree with you Caliban, they do look heavy, if check-in luggage is what's needed. But with no wheels (so no frame) they're not too bad.
A suitcase was listed at 17lbs. If it's not for flight check-in then I don't reckon weight would worry many people. (Not me anyway).

I can think of many other ways of spending $800-plus though.
Now if I could get someone to buy me one.....

You say that to all the boys..

leather is useless for travel. They let in water, dust, are heavy, clumsy etc but damn there is nothing finer than a leather bag that's been around the world a few times.

Funny!

I wasn't really looking at it from the viewpoint for intense travel, as they are heavy, but yeah they do look good with that worn look to it...I was thinking that someone on here would have one.

Get the one made out of recycled foreskin leather. You rub it and it turns into a laptop bag.

I have been carrying mine every day for over a year and love it. I have the large one and it 'just' fits my MacBook Pro 17" laptop in a neoprene sleeve. You can make it into a backpack if needed and there are no zippers or anything you can wear out or break on this thing. It is a tank! The second pic shows some of what I keep in it to include:
Resume, MacBook Pro 17" laptop, small first aid travel kit, Gerber multiplier tool, extension cord, computer charge cord, Col. Littleton leather journal, 2 pencils, iPod and charger cord, 12v phone charger cord, Verizon USB cellular 3G modem, USB pen drive, Stain Stick, DayRunner Planner system, paperback book, and a plastic grocery bag (for trash).

If you're down & you radios are out.....
With enough cooking, curry paste &/or Tabasco I recon they look good enough to eat.
Spit out the buckles.
