Waterproof Digital Point & Shoots

Postby redfax » Thu Jul 29, 2010 6:05 pm

Heya all, I finally decided that if I'm going to carry a point and shoot around, it might as well be waterproof for flexibility.
I was thinking of getting this:

any expreience with these or similar cams?

Thnx

I have Panasonic Lumix but not the waterproof on – I think it’s a great camera

I have both the LX3 (which is a very unique and beautiful image maker) and the waterproof Lumix which is great toss in the backpack. People don't like them but I like it a lot. Good pics, (not as good as the LX3) but none of the delicate problems.

So far i've been a canon man for my point and shoots, and in fact I kind of had my eye out for the S90 (large sensor, f/2 lens, two control wheels, flat form factor), but I've been thinking the waterproof option would give me an added capability over my SLR system, while a regular point and shoot would only be useful when I didn't have my main rig on me.

I took some shots underwater the other day with an el-cheapo disposable. It will be interesting to see if any of them come out.

My friend has a Fuji Finepix xp10. He kept it in his buoyancy aid for about a month paddling in Nepal and it stayed waterproof with no fogging.... they're reasonably priced too
