Question for computer geeks

Postby lightstalker » Tue Sep 21, 2010 3:39 am

A while back my hard drive on an old i-book bit the dust. Apple took the drive out so now now I need something to connect the drive to my computer to see if i can recover any of the files. Is there such a device to do this? Otherwise, can anyone suggest a good but not overly expensive data recovery company?

An external USB enclosure for a 2.5" ATA100 or SATA drive should be about $15.

If you want a dedicated purpose thing without the enclosure, this actually costs more, but is a useful thing to keep around:

It's the guts of an enclosure, sans enclosure, with the ability to plug into 40-pin ATA100 3.5" HDD, 44-pin ATA100 2.5", and SATA.
