Best low key SERE Gear that you can carry.....

Postby cukros1 » Sun Jan 30, 2011 9:53 am

I am interested in getting the best Survival Evasion Rescue and Evasion (not necessarily in that order) gear that people carry into hazardous environments.

To start the juices rolling here are two of the best I have found and tried:
From SAR Global Tool: SAR Eclipse Signal System with Titanium knife
http://sarglobaltool.blogspot.com/

and Oscar Delta bracelet with kevlar paracord and plastic key http://www.oscardelta.co.uk/SERE_Bracelet.html

I showed you mine, now lets see yours.......

A dozen 5H pencils
a roll of dimes

p.s. don't let anyone put cuffs on you in the first place

I always used to carry (wear) a belt keeper with a cuff key attached to the popper stud and hidden inside it, at the back of my belt in case the tables were turned. If they had and cuffed me at the front I'd obviously have been a bit pissed off. Never had to use it in the 12 years I carried it.

I just plunder the bodies of my dead enemies. After I kill them with my credit card knife and garrote them with my paracord bracelet of course. I just have to yell "TIME OUT!" while I untangle the sucker.
Geez,am I NOT ALLOWED TO BE INTENSE FOR JUST 10 FUCKING SECONDS??!!!!!!!

SERE is a government created training program that also includes classified torture (no slaps more than 90 degrees, water boarding breaking guaranteed) The idea being that you will be caught, you will break. But more importantly they put government employees into a government program to be taught government wisdom. That is your clue. Do not be afraid to die. That will freak them out.

Thing is that if you were in a situation where you might need a SERE kit...chances are you would not be allowed to hold on to it for too long.

Sexy as the cuff key/paracord bracelet is, the only restraints I ever carried were plasticuffs. The only guy I know currently in the business of making arrests (a yank MP) also routinely carries and uses plasticuffs. If plasticuffed/cable tied the key would be little more than a conversation piece during your arrest process. If you got handcuffed correctly (hands point in different directions)use of the key would be realistically impossible.

Like everyone above has said, situational awareness and guile will (or should) keep you out of cuffs in the first place.

That said, combo cuff key and paracord in one sneaky package... I can see why you bought it ^^

nope...thinking more about situations where one's ass is rather kidnapped and they strip you of everything you have that might help you survive, escape, evade, be rescued
