Most of the shit you are looking at screams "TACTICAL". 'Course if that's what you are going for then by all means...

I actually wound up getting this one:
http://www.jansport.com/js_product_deta ... =&pid=TXQ3

and it's pretty much exactly what I wanted. The water bottle pockets fit a 1 L nalgene bottle just fine, and there's enough room for a sweater, a first aid kit and lunch for 2 1/2 people (well, 2 adults, one small child).

Thanks.

And yes, I know this was a bit of a "gay" request, but I'm currently in the middle of no where, and my ability to go look at things is extremely limited.

But I read every single word and click every link because I have a backpack/bag fetish.

Anyway....here's another to consider:

North Face Base Camp Hot Shot:

I picked one up on eBay for about $70, but you can find them even cheaper. This particular model is made of the same material used to make their famous, AWARD WINNING base camp duffel bags. (I wonder how well it holds up to a flame?)

Onward!

i've got the box shot (just a bigger version of the hot shot). it's okay, definitely handles the abuse i dish it, but to be honest that isn't a super amount. it's just not worth the price tag. and re: a flame, i can tell you from a friend's bag that the answer is 'not so well'.
when they ask how you feeling
you tell em you feeling like something important died screaming
you tell em you feeling like something even more important arrived breathing
something you should probably try feeding

No, if it was on the "Homosexual Encounters" forum it would be gay. Seems appropriate for the gear forum and glad you found something you liked.

If you want something a little more compact than a nalgene, you might want to check this out:

Jansport came a long way over the last 5-6 years and that bag looks like it can handle some shit. I used to go through those things in a years time...my Jansport is still in good shape.

Yeah, looks very different from the shit they called a backpack when I was a kid.
