Actually, it's a 331 but it started life as a 302. It's going to be a little tight in front and I may have to play some shenanigans to get a hood on it, but there's actually a fair amount of room in an FC. Actually the same shenanigans that would help the hood close would actually improve the suspension geometry. The kit is actually fairly complete bolt in wise. I will just have to coerce the wiring to work. I'm going to put a light front accessory drive on it and I'm still talking myself out of buying an aluminum block ($5000). I'm also working on a composite intake manifold. Then it would be as light as a rotary but make 400hp without barely even trying.

Right. The yellow tape threw me off.
What are you doing about the suspension/steering?I imagine this is some sort of kit that comes with mounts. A composite intake manifold...no shit.

What's the vehicle geared for?

It's already pretty well set up. I guess I should be able to use a stock Mustang oil pan and not have to modify the steering or sway bar. I may have to shim between the frame and front sub frame to get hood clearance, but that would also help suspension geometry. Google "roll center".

That's pretty cool. What did you factor first...the vehicle or the engine? Or neither and just figured it out.

Many years ago my father's friend put a Grand National engine in a 911, which I find a little sacrilegious, but to each to his own. That was when the GN engine was king of hill in the Domestic world...and I doubt very much there were kits for that. I believe Fiat had a kit and possibly he modified it, but I'm just speculating. I've been out of that scene for 20 years...

Pretty common swap, actually. Lots of guys on Grassroots Motorsports web site have done it. Flyin' Miata also does LSx engines into Miatas.

Interesting. I guess a lot of people are doing LSx engines into 911s now.

Actually, it's not too bad. It's not quite where it's supposed to be because the oil pan is too big so I'm swapping it with a stock pan. On top will be the problem.
I think it might be 160 pounds more once I swap some lighter parts onto the engine. If I "invested" in an aluminum block that would take off another 100 pounds.

It did. Miatas would overtake me on the straights until I got the suspension sorted out.

The CTS-V wagon was out of my price range. That is a car I would like to have whether there was a jiggler in the front seat or not.
