I live for winter days that look like that - its what alot of days in Fairbanks looked like in wintertime.

I just felt the need to re-post that dumbass pic one more time, three showings just wasn't enough.

I don't use polypro underware except for working in and coming home that day. For climbs, hunting/fishing always merino wool nothing else.
So far all the advice you've received is solid just make sure you have mitten liners on for those times you pull hands out of mittens, if using felt pack boots buy an extra set of packs so the current days can dry 24 hours while wearing the other dry ones(my feet sweat so this is a must, McKinley taught me that).
Other thing eat good caloric foods if working long hours outside & drink lots of non caffeinated beverage. Oh, I really like partially frozen goo packs. They slurp down like a loogie and have lots of to go sugar.
both “fiction” and “journalism” are artificial categories...HST
