Are you doing it old school with a spear?

If so, I assume that is probably one of the most dangerous forms of hunting there is but...in all the Medieval History I have been reading it seems that people actually got addicted to doing it for that reason. (like skydiving I suppose).

isn't this why man invented guns ?

I've got a GoPro 3 - Silver, and frankly, I'm a little disappointed in it.

First, the battery life is complete shit. I'm lucky to get 45 minutes out of one battery.

Second - there are several quirks. Yesterday I got a file error and it took an hour for the thing to repair the file.

Finally, every so often when I turn the thing on, it locks up. You have to pull the thing out of the case, take out the battery, and restart the thing. I was up in a tree getting ready to go down a zip line and the thing locked up. Not the best place for it to happen.

All complaints aside, it's a good little camera once you can get past the annoyances.

I was thinking one of those would be nice for a decent fire season. How has the picture quality and battery life been on average?

The picture quality is good, sound quality is okay. Use a microphone if possible — another minor annoyance - need a different case to use a mic.

The battery life is the worst aspect of the GoPro. Absolutely atrocious. The battery lasts 30-45 minutes, tops, so you need to buy a second battery ($44).The size and portability of the GoPro are it's best features. I might buy a couple other bits and parts for it and splurge on a "real camera" for about $3500. I will probably buy another GoPro, possibly two, so I have all the angles covered. It has it's share of annoyances but it's still worth having. I used it this morning and last night without any issues.
