THE BOOS THAT ROCKED THE VOTE: KERRY DAUGHTERS RECEIVE RUDE AWAKENING AT MTV AWARDS
Sun Aug 29 2004 23:36:31 ET

MTV, ROLLING STONE and the rock and roll establishment -- past and present -- have cast their vote, and their man is John Kerry.

So on Sunday night when John Kerry's daughters were announced to speak at the annual MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS, the MTV youth were expected to welcome his daughter's as pop culture princesses.

Instead, in an era of the unexpected, the daughters of the Democratic candidate were met with a resounding wall of boos at the filming in Miami.

From the moment Alexandra and Vanessa started speaking, the boos outweighed anything close to cheers, and the reaction turned worse when the daughters asked the VIACOM youth to vote for their father. So shocked by the reaction, the taller of the two daughters tried to 'shhhhhh' her peers to no avail.

Doesn't matter. Kerry will still win. And either way we all lose...

You missed my point...

I could give a shit who you think will win, I'm getting sick of the election being thrust into every aspect of my life. And I think there might be others sick of it too.

I would have been more impressed if they encouraged people to look into issues that would affect them and vote the way they felt. MTV is so terribly uncool its embarrassing....

I watched it last night, and the way in which MTV was promoting voting was just plain stupid. "Vote or Die!"? C'mon.

I wasn't terribly impressed with either the Bush sisters or the Kerry sisters, neither sounded very intelligent in my opinion. Neither should have come out and said "Vote for my father."

The reason I believe they presented it as such, was because of the lack of brain cells of the majority of those who watch MTV. Most who watch the channel don't have the brain power to attain the most basic understanding of current events, let alone what is going on in the US.

There were so many things wrong with that last night it's rediculous.

The average MTV viewer is 22 but based on the show last night has an IQ of 90, drinks a lot of Pepsi, eats a lot of junk food, has herpes, doesn't work and doesn't realize that Videos are just informercials for music.

That's polite. I got your point, but I've been sick of the election for quite some time now. And I don't really consider an appearance by them on MTV an intrusion on my daily life, since I try to avoid making MTV part of my daily life.

Actually, I'm still pretty sick about the 2000 "selection."
I just can't feel the malaise that this election is an impediment to everyday living, come on, voting is the responsibility of living in a free world. Don't whine!

Who better to identify free and high quality medical care than Cubans living in Cuba?
