Fuck Mac heads... I think Apple stuff just costs more, is no better hardware wise (although sometime leads innovation like the iphone), and white. What is so great about white hardware?

Oh man checkout my notebook it is white and has a glowing "brand" on it... that makes it better!!! oh ya and it runs OSX!!! take that Windows users!!!!

What do most mac users even know about OSX? Do they know that it is really http://www.freebsd.org/ ? And you can download free BSD and run it on any old computer? Also FreeBSD is OLDSCHOOL! and lost favor long ago. that is why Berkley licenced it to Apple. Because it sucked.

Now there is Linux a few generations ahead... and all the little desktop widjets apple puts out (and charges for) for OSX are developed by the open source community and free. Well free if you use linux...

So Craig has his slick windows Vista machine... and in the back room a Linux machine that I use for my midnight hacking. Also I can connect to it from my Vista machine, and do what ever I want. It would blow your mind...

So for the Apple heads out there "fuck you" because BSD sucks, Apple hardware is no better then intel (used to be better, but shit it is intel based now anyhow), and what the F* does an ipod or imac, or laptop being white with a glowing brand have to do with anything???

In Seattle there is a big Mac crowed. And that is fine... but after some observation and interviewing I have found a secret... this secret will help anyone that know it. I will pass this on to you, and many red lights in your life will turn green....

Hmmm, I think that faster, better supported, better hardware cheaper, better luck with torrents, HUGE user community for support on OS and applications, upgrade of hardware cheaper, etc, etc.

Also the biggest plus on Windows is only understood by the self employed type. It communicates with the rest of the world... it is a standard like English universally. That is why I only fly US airlines, and never airlines from other countries. 70% of all aircraft crashes, and NOT American airlines. English as a second language is a good part of that...

So I want to be able to communicate with rest of the world... hmmm should I use a Mac, or a windows machine? Hmmm, well let's see.... Before SUN went down they had a good saying, "the network is the computer". That was a saying before the Internet was big. The visionary people at SUN knew that the communication of nodes on a network was more important then any node on the network.

So the Internet is more important as a whole then any of its parts... sorta. So do ya wanna play with the rest of the world? or have a handy-cap of a Mac? "Thing Different, don't play"

The Internet has no intersection that is the only way to get someplace.... But it does have dead ends....

Macs are great computers if you got the money. I don't so I have a mediocre Acer with a crap 64 bit Vista OS. Vista makes Macs look like Gold. Windows owners = Bill Gates' beta testers. Believe me, I'm a beta tester and I know it (and so far this O.S. bites the bag).

My in-laws run their entire business on Macs and my wife has a Mac. She has had way less problems than I have had with my machines, but due to MS's overwhelming popularity with software mfgrs, I am stuck with Windows XP (on a virtual machine running on the crap Vista).

The advantage of Mac stuff is that it goes obsolete very slowly and the hardware is more durable than your typical PC (except the hard drive...a crap hard drive can be put into any computer). The thing I don't like about Mac (and I own one..a white g4) is that the GUI can be a bit more limiting than either Windows , linux or FreeBSD. What it needs is the *BSD trick of ctrl + alt +F2 to get another windowing system going on the machine since the damn pinwheel thing can make it so you can work on nothing else while a memory or cpu hungry application is running.

FreeBSD is one of the least obsolete operating systems around but IMO it got worse when it tried to catch up to Linux. I liked it best when it was the old reliable workhorse you could put on anything. Compiling the kernel in *BSD is much easier than in Linux and my old Athlon 1800 running FreeBSD 6.0 and firefox 1.5 is still light years faster in web surfing than any other machine I have (not sure how it would run with 3.1 though) and the port system is still much better than the apt-get system on Debian derived linux machines. But the best FreeBSD was 4.x. That and NetBSD 1.6 are the only operating systems that I never, ever had any problems.

Apple has done two things which help it make a higher quality product but also hurt it's % of market share: they limit backwards compatibility, and they own the hardware platform. Microsoft on the other hand has to deal with folks that want to run their 16-bit VB3 app on Vista or Windows 2003, or people that want to install Vista on a 10 year old Pentium with 128 megs of RAM.
