Coming attractions

Postby Kurt » Thu Aug 19, 2004 11:31 pm

I just fired up my webserver and am in the slow , tedious process of repairing and adding a few things.

But it will be slow and tedious, due to the fact I have to ftp everything because the hosting company doesn't allow me to edit right on the site.

Hopefully added will be:

A better link to DPGEAR.COM (maybe increase orders and make the site pay for itself a bit). I will try to feature individual items, books, DVD's etc. so people can see them and click on what interests them.

Increased font size..For current and future old fogies.

A chat room (gotta find one that works) The chat feature will first be beta tested on my server for a few days of chat only when I am online so I can monitor bandwith and disk useage in real time.

A Blog for RYP......I know how they work in theory but I will set it up and see how RYP wants to customise it and how submissions will work.

That XML feed thingy...I gotta do research on that.

Like I said, this will take some time, ..expect the font changes and the DPGEAR links first. This may also coincide with other features being added to the board.

Thanks for your input and sorry for delays (and sorry for future delays)

This post sounds like a thinly veiled request to buy more DP stickers....

So the ignore feature is out? Too bad. And here I was going to ask for a big "BZZZZT" noise to play whenever you ignored a new person. But on that person's end.

Kinda like the auto-taunts in those fps games.....

If I find it. It will be added.

Right now I have an odd problem with my test machine. It seeks my old IP number when I try to post.

I am drinking coffee right now trying to figure it out.

You don't come from the "cut n' paste school of website programming" like I do, do you?

I did a quick google and found this page for the ignore feature:

http://www.phpbbhacks.com/searchresults ... pbb+ignore

The direct link is http://www.phpbbhacks.com/viewhack.php?id=789

As for the sound, let me do another quick google. Not like you'd implement that part though.... ;)

Or would you?

Okay here are bunch of sound mods for a php forum:

Any chance we'll get our icons to work when they're not linked?

I am just going to say "No, there is no chance" because I have not paid much attention to the avatar issue because I don't care about the avatar issue. But you never know..something may happen to get fixed, or if anyone wants to check out phpBB.com and look for a reason why that would nto work, if you notify me on what would fix it, I will.

All I am going to say is the site is beautifully done and managed as it is and thank you Kurt for putting in the time and energy to upgrade it for all of our asthetic viewing pleasures...especially since it is a FREE service and All.
Once again, a big Hawaiian MAHALO (Thank you)
Cheers,
Dawn

Too much bandwith for Videos, since RYP is paying for it ..I suppose I coudl get some cash hosting some porn on the side....

But, that wouldn't be right.

We got a problem that you folks can't see with the Database. I gotta sit down with a bunch of coffee and a book and see if I can figure it out, so the upgrades I mentioned earlier are postponed until I can be sure that they won't mess with our currently working database (broken but working).
