You're kinda hirsute, the wrong gender and my spouse won't let me have another wife.

Have you ever seen one of these ? Similar to an extra long tonfa. They usually have a blade or spike on the end, I need to get one made for mine.

The only thing scarier than an angry native with a machete is Marie Angelique with a box cutter.

We were talking about swords, not letter openers.

Nothing beats Japan when it comes to Asian swords. I was reading a book written in China in the 800s that describes the Japanese as the best sword fighters in Asia, and this was even before the Japs really hit their hayday. The Chinese have, perhaps, a longer history of making swords, but the quality of the Chinese variety really don't compare; they don't have tamahagane techniques, for example, so their stuff is generally weaker.

The Tachi and Nodachi are a little too big for my tastes. I prefer the standard katana, which is almost as long as a tachi, but not generally as unweldy. Tachi and nodachi swords were generally used by the Japanese equivalent for the grenadiers, so they are more awkward to use. The tachi, for example, were for larger mounted troops, while the nodachi guys were just big linemen looking bastards.

I'm big linemen looking bastard so that's why I favour them but for sheer man-made artistic beauty
not many things in the world compete with a Katana.

I've been fortunate to view these blades in person

I lived in Japan for some years, on a small island, and near my island was another island that had an ancient shrine dedicated to the God of War. In this shrine were thousands of weapons from throughout Japanese history, including swords, lances, armour, and even a Mongol helmet from the unsuccessful invasion in the 1200s. For thousands of years, Japanese warriors had been traveling to this shrine to pray for success, and they donated a weapon every time they came.

The place was like a huge wet dream. Perhaps no where in the world, even in the great museums in Japan, can be found such a large collection of weapons in such pristine condition. There was also a tree out front that was around 2600 years old or thereabouts.
