God I love Vegas.
I've been quite a few times over the past six years. Here's a few things I'd recommend you check out.
Fremont Street. It's cheap to take the bus down there, the light show is fun and they have free live shows, cheap drinks that will fuck you up and some decent casinos.
The Las Vegas Hilton buffet has complimentary beer and wine, only costs about seventeen bucks and is pretty good. We usually start off a crazy night there so we can pregame while we eat dinner. Free beer is never bad...even when it's Miller Lite/MGD.
Improv comedy shows are cheap and usually hilarious, good for a couple hours of entertainment.
The arcade/game room at NY NY is fun to play games and kill some time. They also have a Nathan's Famous there with good pizza and hot dogs. NY NY is a fun casino/hotel. I've stayed there twice and both times we had a blast and it wasn't that expensive.
If you feel like dropping a little extra cash on a good meal I'd recommend Delmonico steak house. I think it's in the Venetian. Expensive but really good and a nice atmosphere.
I've eaten at all the 'luxury' buffets (Wynn, Bellagio, etc.) and some of the cheaper ones and so far the buffet at Mirage is my favorite. It's like 25 bucks and they have tons of great different types of food. First time I went there I ate so much, I threw up later. Also, they have a good sports book. Good as in, every time I went there, I was able to watch football or basketball and drink free the whole time, even if I wasn't gambling. All you gotta do is tip a buck or two every time and you get beers, cocktails, shots, etc. I have been plastered for very cheap in that sports book many times.
Have fun. Vegas is one of my favorite cities. I can't wait to go back when I'm in the U.S. again. :)
