Been thinking about giving them a shot. Do they have the CH stamp of approval?

I have had a pair for a few months now. I have just taken mine off from an entire day of wearing them. I have been running in them lately. Based on the smell, it's time to throw 'em in the washer. Ha ha ha...they make running completely different, but I really like it - after a run with those bad boys, your feet know it!

I spent all day hiking trails and going WAY OFF TRAIL and climbing the better part of thunder mountain in Sedona, AZ with them on my feet + have spent a good deal in my boat with them on - they are great as long as you watch cacti areas carefully! I got nailed with a walking cactus chunk (teddy bear cholla) on the side of my big toe and that was a unique kind and level of pain that I can appreciate.

Today I just went and did some errands in them and went out back to my range shooting with them. Your feet get wet if you step on damp soil and a small bit of dust/dirt (very small only - except for thorns) get through the soles - they are essentially just like going barefoot with a light rubber separation from you and the ground. You feel almost everything - but the pointed rocks and gravel don't bother you a bit.

I like 'em, but they are VERY unique - bizarre or odd really - and have a tendency to spread my toes apart a little - I wouldn't even THINK about taking them in the woods to do a job or go drinking in, but they will help work muscles and joints in your legs and feet that don't get worked very much in traditional running shoes.

They are hugely GAY.

You should warn us if you're going to post such disturbing images.

I promise you that I can walk down the street in a summer dress and nobody would think it was gay.

Cold: You should take some video of yourself walking down the street with a dress and some VFF (vibram fivefingers) on and post it on youtube for fun.

Nothing says "I'm confident in my manhood" like wearing a dress in public places (with facial hair intact).

Having something between my toes like that would bug the shit out of me. I'd like to strengthen my feet though, so unless anyone has some other suggestions, I'm leaning toward trying the Nike Free.

Well, you could always go barefoot. Got us by for tens of thousands of years if not longer...

Still gets the natives by.

I just looked at those nike frees and frankly, do not think they would strengthen your feet any more than a typical pair of running shoes, since they sure look like a typical pair of running shoes...

Another thing you could try - take your shoes and socks off and pick up pencils with your feet. That will make them stronger. HA ha.

Edited to say that I went running in my Sauconys today because the fivers are still drying in the sun from having thrown them in the washer last night. :-) Maybe I'll go running again with the fivers this afternoon. They are sweet shoes!

I second Royal. They are soooooo fashion victim. I know I will have a huge laugh at someone else's expense when they go past wearing them. They pay-I have the laugh.
Cheers.

I wore some to the theater in Florida shortly after I got them and three chicks were standing there laughing their asses off at me (but they didn't know I knew because they were trying not be rude) and I am certain they took a picture of my shoes (but acted like it was something else).

My father in law calls them Obama feet.

Still I don't give a shit - I didn't buy them 'cause I wanted to be a fashion queen. I bought them because I like the idea of barefootin' it without cutting the shit out of my feet and stepping where people have barfed or worse. That they strengthen your feet is just an added plus.

I wished they had these when I was in high school. I would have never worn cleats in track. These fuckers grip like a mo-fo and the best protection is under the ball, where you hit when you're hauling ass.

I have that weird thing where my second toe is a bit longer than my big toe... doesn't looks like they made these to accommodate my freak-feet.
Overall though, I thought these looked pretty sweet (in an uberdork kind of way) myself, and you can't beat Vibram. I bet having all five toes able to flex autonomously could significantly improve one's balance, especially on slippery or sloped surfaces.
