Good kit

Postby Q » Wed Jun 23, 2010 9:05 pm

I have nothing but rave reviews for Craghoppers seersucker shirts, and Carharrt khakis. They're tough as hell, and good for the job with the bonus of not looking like a walking advert. for 5.11 .

The folks at Craghoppers are super fooking nice and will bend over backwards to help you out.

No. The point is to not look like a clown. Even at 1/3 the price.

I love Carharrt pants. The work pants I have are tough as nails.

Good to see you back, Q.

Some good non-tactical looking clothing suggestions in the comments on this article:

Also LA Police Gear just came out with Stealth Operator Pants, and they are only 20 bucks

The khakis are lightweight and it wasn't bad at all. And I always go commando in the tropics.

Commando isn't a choice, it's a lifestyle.

Carhartts are the go-to choice of clothing around here...but really, they are just an upgraded beige colored jean.

I don't wear them because they are damned stiff and the pockets aren't on the thigh.

Except for formal events, I ONLY wear pants with pockets on the thighs for one reason: Wallet chafes ass when walking for a long distance.

I wear 5.11 pants because they have some good features, but truly, they leave a LOT to be desired.

I don't care for 100% cotton trousers, because I spend most of my time outside. Cotton is great for the tropics, but when it is 90-90 (90F temp and 90% humidity) 65 poly/35 cotton still works fine - but in the cold, cotton suck ass - especially when wet. I would rather have a trouser that can go from alpine through desert to jungle and be reasonably comfortable in all of the climates.

My idea of a perfect trouser is based on a combination of the North Face's toughest convertible pant and 5.11's polyco pant.

Features from both of those pants combined would make me a happy camper. As it is now, there is an unbelievable variety of crappy pants on the market. This is aggravating.
Life is short. Eat, Drink & Be Merry!
