They're nice to stroke and sometimes you can eat them?

Cats naturally inhabit every continent, save Antarctica an Australia. Simply put, they are better survivors than Bear Grylls.

Or people who own cats stay in one spot (city, country, ect) for extended periods of time (like years) and are home enough to take care of a pet

He has a new one out now for only $59.99

http://www.amazon.com/Gerber-31-000751- ... 448&sr=8-1

You "have" to watch the video in the last line of pics there of the knife. Since in comes with a ferro, and a sharpener, it might not be so bad except the stupid Chinese steel, serrations (I don't like on a 'survival' knife because of sharpening issues for one), cheesy rubber grip, and WAY too gay BG in orange letters on the handles. Hey, but we are way under the $750 mark at least!

I liked the comments on Amazon.com from one of the guys saying how he would be too embarrassed to actually wear this thing.... too funny.

Cheers,
Mitch

For 60 bucks it looks like a great knife - comes with a ton of stuff - and I like the handle, like the grip CRKT uses on some of their knives

Hearing people talk smack about Chinese steel on knives is way played out

Every knife you use at home for 20 years in your kitchen is Chinese steel, the majority of the steel sheets used for knife-making in the US were manufactured in China - there is nothing wrong with Chinese steel

Jeezzzz... you don't actually pay attention to knife snobs do you? These guys are only happy if a knife is D2 or Kryptonite steel with a titanium scales or something and costs 800 bucks

People were saying the same things about RYP' knives on the forums - knife snobs complain to complain

The comments [on Amazon] about not wanting that knife in a survival situation is laughable - in Indonesia people use knives made of scrap steel they found on the side of the road that last for 30 years with daily use in the jungle. I have a camp knife that is just a cleaver I bought for 20 bucks 10 years ago that is still going strong - Fuck armchair survivalists

The only reason people are criticizing the knife is because Bear is a douchebag

Looks ok for the price.

Don't know why he needed to design it.
Mr. Grylls could have called his hotel concierge or room service for a sharp knife to cut his cucumber sandwiches.

we were given ours for a wedding present and I'm quite scrupulous about what I buy from China.

I won't lie, his new knife, really doesn't look all that bad. It is similar to the Gerber LMF II but more civilian I guess. Doesn't look like the best knife for survival in a warzone, but would definitely be something for the woods or disaster relief for sure. I guess everything has it's own market right?

I think the real issue is, that his 750$ knife...well he is making all that cash just for his name. Makes me think that I should start my own show, then make my own knife. Apparently this is where the money is at!
