From hell? That one always makes me laugh. Have you ever been in a raging inferno searching for bodies and not realizing you're stepping on them because three small children hid under their blankets on the mattress they were sleeping together on in an attempt to escape death? Then finally realizing they're beneath you. Then taking them out and placing them all on one gurney in front of their screaming mother? What do you know about hell?....lady.

Yep. You never know which intervention will put you over the edge....and there are hundreds. The worst are the suicides of a parent witnessed by their children or vice versa. There is something so unnatural about it. One of our captains retired immediately after an incident involving a teenage girl and a train. It was the one that put him over the edge. Luckily for him he was at retirement age.

Two of our guys killed themselves in the last three years....both by drinking themselves to death.

Anyways I think emergency workers have to watch that they don't get a shitty attitude towards life. It's easy enough to do because you see the worst of everything.
