Swaino is a photo pimp. He is my official Burma foreground whore. He is probably cursing his recent decision to rehump our trail without my humorous banter to keep him motivated.

I just preodered the Olympus E-PL2 (got the red one since the black one didn't come with a $50 rebate). Also preordered a Voigtlander Nokton 25mm F0.95 4/3 lens. That is an awfully fast lens and the first 4/3 lens not made by Pany or Oly.

Who needs a flash (i hate them anyway) when you have a lens that can perform like this? Must be watched in HD.

Not too shabby at photos either.

You know whats better than humorous banter to keep you going? Porters, and lots of them. Unfortunately half our porter crew were 15 year old girls who ended up carrying our packs. Embarrassing as it may be, it still beat carrying that shit 100+ miles. We went a different route this time tho, much longer but slightly less hilly.

Knees good, hips good, heels, completely fucked. If you meant the 15 year old female porters I have no idea, I was staring at my own feet the entire walk.

Forgot to mention. You buy an slide on optical finder, dont use the screen. Thats for playback

After doing some research, I am torn between the Panasonic above and the Olympus E-PL2. Both seem to be nice options, but I am not sure if I could get used to using a touch screen for controls. A friend just agreed to buy my Nikon D90 and lens, so that will be used to fund the next camera purchase which will likely be one of the two I just mentioned. I'm keeping my D700 for times when the weight won't come into play.

I haven't used a 4/3 camera with one of the optional view finders. Does the thing voom with the lens to give an accurate framing reference?

Great stills from all of you. Have either of you used the video features?

It seems the Panasonic, in terms of best bang for your buck, isthe Panasonic. The Olympus has some features that are outstanding...However, that articulated LCD is screen is a nice feature for awkward shots (Canon 12- I've shot over 25k without any problems on my G10). There's a trend of using the 60D's vs. Canon 5/7D because of this feature alone.
They all have hot shoes too. Then there is the familiarity of certain product that goes a long way.

I'm wondering of the GF2 has the same processor as the AF-100 prosumer video camera as that is also a 4/3 rd's chip?

Since you guys are out in the field more than I. Just curious...

Cheers

Let me try & figure you out. You live in a trailer, hoping to expand into a double-wide, drive an El Camino, have a mullet, make about $30k a year on a good day as manager of a Chick-fil-A, hang out in gun shows wearing camoflauge, probably got a fatbeer belly, and regulary cruise Walmart looking for dates. Close enough? I'm so sorry.
