So how did trying to climb Mera Peak go? Was it hard?! Anyway your photos are inspirational. Good to be there for the rhodedendrons, & those stunted trees are something else. I spent 10 months in Nepal about 20 years ago and one day I will get around to scanning my photographs.

Hi Gopi, long time no hear from!

I got up to 6375 metres, about 100 vertical metres from the top before my guide said we weren't going any further. Bascially it snowed almost every day on the way up and the crevasses were buried and invisible because of the snow. The views (at least the couple of hours each day it wasn't cloudy and snowing.

If anyone's going I found it better to take the longer route (south then over a couple of passes and eventually up the Hinku valley) better that trying to shoot up the Zatrwa La Pass to get directly to Mera. It gets you into areas where they don't seem to see alot of tourists as well it is better for acclimitization. Coming back the Zatrwa La was lots of fun, it was buried in about 3-4 feet of snow that made the trails invisible.

Love to see your fotos, pls post! Nepal has changed alot in the 11 years since I was last there so I'd imagine it has realy changed in 20 years.

Altitude was no problem for me probalby because the gain was gradual. I took Diamox as I have had some altitude sickness in the past but felt that was a bit of overkill for this trek.
