We're just about to sign Vicente from Valencia, 'The Dagger of Benicalap', on a FREE transfer too. He was one of the best players in the world a few years ago, won La Liga and the UEFA Cup with Valencia, scoring a penalty in the final in 2004. Since then niggling injuries have held him back a bit, but he's still only 30 and if we do land him, it will be one hell of a signing for this little club to make. He was spotted in a restaurant in Hove yesterday with our manager Gus Poyet, and is staying another night in a hotel here. Hopefully the pen will be out and we have him on a three year contract.

Amazing things happening at the club right right now, a brand new 22,500 capacity stadium, with more seats going in soon to make it 30,000. Having never spent more than £500,000 on any player previous, this summer we broke the £1million mark twice, then signed a striker from under the noses of West Ham and moneybags Leicester, spending £2.5million. Unbelievable really, now we've almost got Vicente and are sitting pretty at the top of the league.
In 1997 we were bottom of the whole football league, our ground was sold off, we were one goal away from oblivion at Hereford, where if we'd dropped into the little leagues the club would have folded forever.
Marvellous scenes
Cheers
