You fucking Brits are a riot...period.

I'm writing this right now while at work. Lucky me,I've been in one of our "outpost" fire stations in a relatively large but obscure city in N.A.
We do a lot of what you describe Adventure Doc except our facilities are not quite that primitive and we are not exactly in "the shit" but there are moments.
Staying sober is my biggest challenge however.

How do the rest of you do in that department? Nevermind...I think I know.

At £3.50 a pint it's easy to just say no.

You are ruining my dream of becoming the most interesting man in the world.

All in context, my friend. Walk into a walmart in midwestern suburbia, usa, and you probably are the most interesting man in the world... In the flag, perhaps an ordinary joe, but its the company that counts :)
You paying attention? I'm talking... G5, Pecker! That's how you can roll. No more frequent flyer bitch miles for my boy! Oh yeah! Playa... playa! Big dick playa!

Truth.

Oh god, instead of a travel discussion, one day someone needs to start the "In A DP: Suburbia" thread. I've had some traumatizing encounters.

Daily life in my job consists of answering phones, getting kicked/punched at and ordering a bunch of teenagers around. Ah, the simple joys of working at a martial arts school.

Suburbia represents the existentialist threshold between the soul's noble desire to achieve great dreams, whatever the personal cost; and the mind's desperate attempt to assuage open wounds of regret and self-loathing with a thick paste of consumer goods, social status, and narcotics. It is a place where true worth is replaced by the reflected adulation of the spiritually worthless.

Treat your time there as Dante did his voyage through Purgatory, remembering that the author called his pilgrimage the "Divine Comedy" for a reason. Because grokking, and processing, the pain, cowardice, and humiliation of others is at the root of all humor.

I'm happy enough with that, we just shaded it. Highlight of the night was the 18 stone Palace bonehead giving it "You take it up the arse you cunts!" outside the turnstiles just before kick-off, a young kiddie jumped onto the railing and put him on his arse with one punch. The little urchin got away into the crowd before the plod even noticed, and the big lump was sparko on the floor.

Marvellous scenes

Cheers

Spritually dead is more like it....but thank "God" we can travel. I go insane in suburbia. I'm more at home with the dregs and the downtrodden. The mentally ill on the street are more real than the suburban robot. And speaking of work...I would much rather work in the economically depressed areas. Yes,too long in the suburbs and you feel spiritually dead. How can some people live their whole life in these cesspools of "normality"? Security?

Fuck y'all. There's nothing wrong with the suburbs you hipster doofuses.

Yeah, working at Taco Bell is no walk in the park either... life isn't like a Dos Equis commercial.

You're right. There is nothing inherently wrong with it...and when I'm in a good flow it can be entertaining. But listening to "i" this and "i" that,to fucking pawn stars, and non-stop monkey babble as to how stupid non-white cultures are...it gets a little tiresome.

It's about choice. Some people don't think or know they have one. Thank "God" for detachment.

Dos Equis Commercial

I have a buddy who looks very close to the guy in the commercial and there were two gals hanging off him one night
and I got a picture we sooned dubbed the Most Interesting Man in the World.

He says "Its not often I drink beer; but when I do: Its on Special..."

We had this about a week ago. Very sad. Scroll down and you get to our platoon chief Don Shellrude...hell of a guy. Very somber statement and took his helmet off...some guys don't.

Anyways the people were Muslim and of course some jackass (at our station) notes that the husband and father wasn't there so it might be an honour killing...seriously.

A few days later this was in the news and I called it an honour killing to the stupid guy at work. He didn't say anything. But one guy saw the humour and said that his wife probably didn't cook supper properly.

Funny how my profession always ranks top ten dp by insurance companies but no one gives a rip. Guess we're expendable.
