I saw this at a big air conditioned flea market in Bangkok yesterday. It was the one DPx Gear item in the entire prison-cell-sized store.
I have a HEST Folder, but it's not a 2.0 Folder. The only thing that seemed off is that it wasn't sharp. The price is 8900 baht. At the going rate of 30.5 THB/USD, that comes to about 292 USD. It seems like an odd place to find the real deal, but stranger things happen every day.

Ersatz or Bona Fide ?

Someone from RYP's Crew should be able to scan the UPC code from that picture to see if it is real

What market were you in?

it's legit. we sell some in to Thailand. There are certain things we do to the finish and packaging that they can't copy. Your first clue is the unique sound the HEST makes when you snap it open. The materials and finish are hard to knock off. The third is the price.

The knockoff is a POS liner lock made by a chinese slave factory owner who specializes in ripping off brands and people on ebay. We hunt them down and kill them. We get them on fed laws and the usual internet shut down laws

One of my knife makers came to me at Blade and said he was approached by a company in China that could mass produce our knives for $30-40.00 my jaw dropped. Our knives start at $475.00 hand made.

I said keep his card and don't sell him anything! Lol! That's scary!

keep in mind if they are selling you the knife for $45, they are paying $20 for it and it costs the manufacturer $10 dollars. I have a $5 Bear Grylls knife (with four color blister pack) on my desk to remind me that the race to the bottom has many winners.

Slap a little more faux mud on my face boys! I am going in!!

RYP, message me if you find internet sites or roadside venders that are selling knock offs of your products. Especially in the U.S. I have friends that investigate IPR cases.

It seems even Gerber can't get it right, shame that such a good company is now flooding the market with plastic and monkey-metal crap:
