Dammit, the Daytona 500 is delayed

and yah, I started getting into NASCAR last year.

195 mph with all cars inches away from each other and then watching the pit crews fix everything is quite fun.

I only watched the beginning and then saw the highlights today. What a weird race.

left turn, left turn, left turn, okay now what, oh yeah, another left turn. i'm sorry, nascar is fucking boring. i can get down on some f1 or some rally racing, but 500 laps around the same shitty oval is way too repetitive for someone with such a short attention span as myself.
when they ask how you feeling
you tell em you feeling like something important died screaming
you tell em you feeling like something even more important arrived breathing
something you should probably try feeding

Nascar is horrible, get in touch with your Nordic roots and watch ice rally, or get in touch with you Viking roots and watch Formula offroad

In reply, Finnish claimer races. Makes me want to hop on a plane to Finland. Sisu!
Plus, I didn't know that all NASCAR drivers were from Southern California and can't drive in the rain.

Oh trust me. I was always making fun of Southerners driving in a circle. Then I saw the end of one Daytona a few years ago while waiting for the Simpson's to come on and the whole lot of them skidded accross the finish line upside down and I said to myself "That was one of the coolest things I have ever seen on television...I must watch this again sometime."

But for one this is America, if car racing is on tv it is NASCAR or Indy and I find Indy to be the boring one. F1 and Rally is better IMO but for spectator value sitting in a stadium and seeing the whole race instead of a Finnish person nearly colliding into you while airborn for 1 second (if you are lucky). If Ice Racing was on TV at that moment I would have watched that. But when you get a cluster of cars inches away from one another going from 193 to 201mph cool shit is going to happen.

That's the thing. I love cars and car racing but I've hardly watched a race. So anything that's focused towards spectating isn't really for me. Same with bicycles, except for me that's about fun, exercise, travel, and personal challenge.

The thing that really brings out the geek in me is the pit crews. The speed and orchestration for completing a technical task is amazing.

Yeah, that is really well done. There's actually a lot of tech that goes into those engines too. Even if they have just finally gotten around to implementing fuel injection.
