If you're going to beach it "China Beach" (My Khe beach) is picturesque. Just up from Da Nang. Touristy and fun. Surf is normal, Decent left right beach break, lots of the accoutrements of beach life. You n the missus can just chill out and drink and eat.

I'm liking the sound of that fella. The missus is worried I'll try to take her upriver about 75 clicks above the Do Lung Bridge etc. I want to be within chucking out distance of a good bar at all times

NAM
If you want to get away from the tourists, stay out of Ho Chi Minh City.

I like Nha Trang the most. Full of temples, mountains, and lots of guys on motorcycles asking if you want boom-boom.

Hanoi is one of my most favorite cities I've visited so far.

Go see how much money you can loose trying to pool shark the local pool sharks in some alley behind the hilton hanoi opera.

When crossing the street just turn your head to face traffic and walk at a steady pace, the bicycles and scooters will go around you. And you guessed it, the cars will ignore you.
