We Have purchased some Ballistic Polymer targets, they are are reactive and last a long time. Paper is good for zeroing your weapon.

Most of the smaller holes are from 5.56

Generally playing cards and bottles of water. Unfortunately, my range doesn't allow small children to run downrange.

Actually we aren't allowed to shoot wildlife on the range either. Something about the local deer population being protected. So if one plops itself down a hundred yards away, it ain't dinner time.

A couple weeks ago, I was shooting a row of clay pigeons off of my back deck at 40 yards with a buckmark. That was fun, but I have no pics of that setup (they were in the snow after I stomped down a bunch of it so they would sit up on it).

I mostly shoot at paper targets at my range. Because my land is mostly forested and a bit hilly, I am limited to about 200m as far as range distance goes - which is okay I guess. I still have to wait until after the timber sale before I am able to shoot that far because some of the trees are in the way between the 200y and 200m distance.

The great thing about that old range is that it was essentially right off of my back porch, but I have sense changed the range location when I surveyed a better area "out back" that only required the removal of a few trees - The timber sale will create a road right to the range, so when friends come over, there will be easy access - and it won't be bothering their wives which some of them will likely be having coffee with my wife...Cool!

Other things I shoot at are: bald face hornets (when I happen to see them land on a plant, etc. - I don't shoot the nests), Necco wafers, I have purchased some racketballs and hung them on some strings and tied the strings to tree branches and shot them - but sometimes they don't swing much when there is a "hit" - but they do leave a mark on the surface.

I was thinking about building some targets, but not set on a design yet. I've got all kinds of steel and a welder at hand - just haven't come up with what I want yet. I'd like to have a pair of targets at say 20 and 40 yards so I can shoot them right off of the porch.

Sometimes I like to test ammo out of various guns to at least have a relative idea of how it will perform. Water jugs is just one medium, I have all kinds of material I test from time to time. Here's what various .22 rounds look like after shot through 4" bucky barrel at the jugs.


19D20: It's a lot of fun to take a little tree marking paint, mix it with water and shoot these with the AR at random distances 50+ yards and watch them explode. Cheaper, but less dramatic than tannerite...but still fun!

I've got a bunch of empty jugs saved up. It will be lots of fun once I get the new range finished up - there's not much lateral field of view (because of the trees), but up to 200m of depth to place them at random distances.

It only takes something like 2 oz. of marking paint diluted in a gallon of water to really tint it well.

I like this Larue electric sniper target, it flops over and resets automaticly. It can take up to .50 BMG



This is our old bench, We have a new ranch and we haven't set up a new bench yet. We have been using sniper mats out to 700 yds.

Today I was shooting at this in a slight drizzle with a new shotgun. 120mph with pyrotechnic pods on the underside which flash when you hit it. I brought it down and they gave me a look which said I hope you've not loaded with BBs.

Great fun. Anyone seen these in the USA?

The Knat is a new one to me. It looks like fun, I've seen people shoot at R/C airplanes with machine guns in Arizona though.

Hit the Larue sniper target at 665 yds with my Saiga AK.
I fired four rounds about four feet above the target that was a third of the way up the hill .
No magnification ,it was just a speck.
