The creature is still alive so that makes it acceptable for vegans to consume, right?

Roadkill is totally vegan.

I know a woman who did that (a Nutritionist who was an Anthropology major with me) and she said it did make her feel better after giving birth but guessed that some liver and eggs would have had the same effect...but she only had one kid so she was not able to test the better option.

Allegedly statistically a baby born via vaginal has a stronger immune system than caesarian section. Maybe eating placenta is the fountain of eternal youth? Just saying.

I had a neighbor who ate half of his wife's placenta. He buried the other half and planted something over it (I can't remember what).

One of the Karen I work with told me a story about a soldier who started having epileptic seizures and they were getting very bad, so one day after his wife gave birth they put part of the placenta in his food without telling him and the seizures stopped. Jungle BS? I have no idea.
Geez,am I NOT ALLOWED TO BE INTENSE FOR JUST 10 FUCKING SECONDS??!!!!!!!

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

"Jungle BS?"

I would think it's probably true...judging from that brief time Buzz and I were with you in Karen State it seems to me that they don't have many food options.

Interesting. Maybe the seizures were caused by some dietary deficiency. (other than 'lack of placenta').

There might be some truth to that, but the cure may have been temporary. There is a diet designed to control epilepsy by inducing ketosis (getting energy from stored body fat rather than carbs) so seizure soldier might have been on a rice diet after getting a head trauma and then fasted due to choking fear (the main difference between us and neanderthals is that we have a more complex vocal cord but that makes it so we can choke to death where as the neanderthal would have never chocked to death ...but would not have been able to give a class on the Heimlich Maneuver either)and induced ketosis thus stopping the seizures and then ate a placenta.
