No problem. I wish that guy would write more often but I am sure he is not getting much or any money for doing what he does.

Here is another one. I love the idea of conservation through food. I really think we Americans have to do more of it and I think the Brits have to be introduced to it (they have our crayfish and our grey squirrels as invaders..and sitka spruce). Actually I would be terrified of our squirrels as invaders, they are brilliant and destructive creatures.

This spring I am going to run around our local parks and try to get some knotweed and burdock and see what I can do with it. I would prefer to have access to Nutria and Asian carp because I think a "surf & shore" gumbo could be made.

It is pretty sad that most people only eat a handfull of the plants and animals commonly used as produce and those are but a fraction of what the earth produces. Diversifying diets in developed countries would go a long way to help ease food prices and famine.

I have been getting interested in local plants and mushrooms, and they can be fucking delicious.

No need to lecture me on the miracle that is pork (all my relatives were hog farmers) since right now I am frying pork skin after curing a raw ham. But I will serve it with a chenopodium and garlic mustard pesto that I picked from Prospect park.

Simply delicious! And people are picking them by the bagful.

Ooooh morchella, that sh!t be expensive round here. Last thing I picked was some amanita muscaria. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

I have taken 2 classes on wild Edible Mushrooms and I still would not eat one, just too big a chance of fucking up and killing yourself when you can eat tons of other wild stuff without the risk
